Our mission
Florida's Division of Hotels and Restaurants inspects tens of thousands of food service establishments every year. Those records are public — but until now, finding and making sense of them required navigating clunky government portals, decoding agency jargon, and piecing together inspection histories by hand.
ClearCraves was built to fix that. We take the raw inspection data published by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) and present it in a clean, searchable format that anyone can use in seconds. No login required. No jargon. No dead ends.
Our goal: Give Florida diners the same inspection information that health departments already publish — just organized in a way that's actually useful before you decide where to eat.
What the site does
ClearCraves lets you look up any licensed Florida restaurant or food service establishment and see its full inspection history: violation counts by category, inspection dates, inspector notes, and how it compares to similar establishments in the same city.
We also publish guides that explain what inspection categories mean, what happens when a restaurant fails, and how to read the data intelligently — because a single "high priority" violation tells a very different story depending on context.
Data methodology
All inspection records on ClearCraves originate from the Florida DBPR's publicly available datasets. Here's how we process them:
Source
Raw inspection data is retrieved directly from the Florida DBPR public records portal on a regular update schedule.
Parse & clean
Records are normalized, de-duplicated, and structured into a consistent schema. Address data is geocoded for map and city lookups.
Categorize
Violations are tagged by the DBPR's own category system (High Priority, Intermediate, Basic) without modification or reinterpretation.
Publish
Processed records are indexed and made searchable on this site. The source record and inspection date are always shown alongside each result.
Data currency: We aim to update records regularly, but there may be a lag between a DBPR inspection and when it appears on ClearCraves. For the most current official status of any establishment, always verify directly at the Florida DBPR website.
Independence & affiliations
ClearCraves is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, any Florida state agency, or any local health department.
We do not receive funding from restaurant groups, food industry associations, or any entity with a financial interest in inspection outcomes. ClearCraves is supported by advertising revenue. Advertisers have no influence over the data we display or how we report it.
